Just came across this pic, and while some hate the design, I totally love it...I highly doubt it has any realness whatsoever to it, but it is eye-catching nonetheless.

I totally agree with you!!! I hope the new PM looks that good. I generally don't like many of the interpretations that I see of upcoming PM designs, but that one is right on. I like that they still kept handles on the case to move the machine around.

The good thing is - by tilting it you also have a great coffee table

I don't like it. I want them to do away with plastic. Plastic is so 2001. Give me a case with a 100% brushed aluminum or Titanium exterior like the Powerbook.
Also, I would like to see much smaller sized towers that still have at least one AGP slot, and one or two PCI slots, plus easy accessibility to hidden Firewire and USB2.0 ports in the front. Apple is the only major computer manufacturer that now offers just huge, massive, space-cluttering towers with no front-accessible ports.

I hope they have a completely new design for the 970, and it has those handy practical handles, but that thing is uckin' fugly.

I really hope they keep an 'El Capitan' derivative...
Good looking, functional, and well sorted... If it works that well, why change?
Peace,
Marc

The black looks bad, but imagin if they had brushed aluminum bars on top with the case sides brushed and transparent plastic on the sides? Would look pretty spiffy.
Of course that ruins the whole flip down side door that people love.
As for dropping PCI slots you'll hear people crying bloody murder if that happens.

Looks pretty nice, sorta reminds me of the cube, with the metallic case kinda floating in between the transparent plastic. The metallic front is the only real flaw I see in it, as it creates the appearance that the original black front was chopped off, revealing the metal. Otherwise it's pretty nice, of course a completely transparent version of that case would look even nicer.

thats the best looking case i have ever seen, makes my MDD look like ass.

space cluttering towers? i value the upgradeability of my powermac, and i done need any smaller a case. though, i think that cube was a good idea, id rather have a larger powermac with 5 PCI slots... Front access doesnt do so much for me...my keyboard has USB there, and i hook up my iPod with the wire connected tot he back...i rarely add/remove anything where tipping my case back a bit is a big deal. Im glad, though, that the headphone out is in the front, too bad it doesnt pass enoughh current to power my Sennheisers.

to be honest I am getting a little tired of the plastic transparency thing
a XServe styled Power Mac would be sweet.. so, this is pretty cool.. if it were more brushed metal, I think I might like it more

Instead of a crappy speaker, why not put in an internal digital camara, 3 expanadable bays that suffle like a CD player because i know that the G4 tower can bloody fit another bay on top of the first, theres just empty space there.
Yeah.....
GET RID OF THE FREAKIN PLASTIC!!!!!

Hahaha. Now that would rock.
The thing looks okay - I wouldn't have a problem buying it (I don't care much about looks though - this wouldn't turn me off), but from that picture, it does not have the easy access of El Capitan.

I'm thinking the new powermacs will have a more aluminum look as well. And hopefully it has more 5 1/4' bays for more internal drives (CD, DVD, and Tape) and expansion. The 2 on the current PMs don't cut it. And hopefully the extra bays are made so you don't have to rip the faceplates off the drives to make it compatible.
But I guess the most important feature would be the 970 onboard, huh?

Of course if they put like two metal rods on either side of the plastic that locked into the case on top and bottom it could have the same functionality as the current ones.
By the way, I think one thing apple should really look to add is a swiveling set of ports on the top or something, IE have Firewire and USB on top and able to be spun to the front then spun back for a cleaner look.

I think its garbage. Why would they ever put two random sheets of glass on both sides like that? I think that without the glass or plastic (whatever it is) it would be a much better design.
