hey guys,

i was just going to watch a DVD from tv out on a radeon 8500 in my sawtooth. i mean, the tv out works, but before, iused to be able to mess around with the settings for the tv out, like position, dot crawl, etc. now, when i run ati dispalys i get this error:

i tried to reinstall the drivers, but nothing.

anyone know where i can get this ati tvout extension, and where it goes? like maybe i can extract it from the drivers? i dunno...

thanks,

tr

Sounds like either you're missing "ATITVOut.kext" which lives in /System/Library/Extensions/ or "ATI Monitor" is missing from your Login Items. Check those two things first, if you're missing the .kext, I could send you a copy.

thanks ReggieX, but i got it working again. unfortunately, my main hd got messed up (and coincidentally, my CCC backup fw hd also got messed up, on the very day that i needed it! go figure ), so i ended up reinstalling X from scratch. used the ati 0ct update, then ran the 10.2.6 combo, and everything is back to normal (except for the fact that i lost about a month of email, work docs, etc...oh, well, that's life, i guess)

Sorry to hear that! I hate when that happens. My Mac's about 3 years old at the moment, and I'm getting really regular about my backups (all to CD-R at the moment).

Strangely, I was going to mention that you have to do 10.2 -> ATI October drivers -> 10.2.6 installation in order to get the TV Out to work! If you go straight from 10.2 to 10.2.6, it doesn't get that one .kext file installed anywhere.

You can also get that error if your disconnect the TV when booting, and then try to plug the cable in and use the TV out.
