I really like my eMac, but the fan noise is starting to get on my nerves.
I'm about to replace the internal optical drive with a Pioneer 105 (DVD-R) and I'd like to replace the fan while I have it open.
I can't seem to locate any information on quiet fans that are compatible with the eMac. Can someone point me in the right direction?

haha,
I don't think it's so much the word you used (or didn't use) I just think we're all at a loss. I'm not familiar with any type of fan replacement for the emac and I don't think anyone else is either; although, it would be a beautiful thing.
If you do have any luck on locating a replacement fan, be sure and post your thoughts/feelings after installation. It's obviously some valuable information a lot of people could benefit from. You might end up being somewhat of a pioneer . . . whoa.
good luck.
cheers,
brian

IIRC, about a year ago, there was a guy in Japan that put up a page describing how we swapped out his optical drive with a Superdrive (this was before Apple sold eMacs with Superdrives.)
I'm pretty sure he also mentioned that he replaced the fan in the eMac as well.
I went back through the MacNN archives and found the URL to the guy's site, but it no longer works.
nuts.

I was able to dig up the contents of the Japanese site using a combination of Google Cache and Babelfish.
eMac site
there was a link on this page to a page titled "Exchange to quiet sound fan", but that page URL is NOT held in Google's cache!!
