okay guys/gals

what does this mean...if the computer beeps when it reboots and the power button turns orange and then green when it boots up...

the computer has been acting up recently...and btw, it's a indigo imac running 10.2.1

oh, btw, it seems like it is the firmware beep and also the mac-boot screen comes up...

what do u guys recommend...will a re-install help?

right now i can't even run disk first aid off the CD, it says the disk is read only...

reformat???

okay, i found some posts on this forum...

it is one beep, but the computer starts up anyway, so it couldn't be ram right?

i will check the ram and see what is happening...

That is most likely a mistaken firmware update beep. Is your programmer's button jammed or held in by something? I'd try pushing it a few times with the computer off (I'm not sure if you need to have it off or not, but it seems safer) to possibly unjam it.
