Hi, is there a way to get the CD tray to open? I need to boot from the system software CD in order to do a clean reinstall. The keyboard eject button hasn't worked for a while...it's a 9.2/OSX G4 quicksilver...I can't get it to start in OSX either by holding down option or X..and holding down the mouse button doesn't work either. I'm at the end of my troubleshooting abilities...can someone here help me please? Can I get that try open with a cryptic button or something? I don't see any obvious button and I don't want to cause any more trouble...

First, if you're having trouble getting your CD drive open, take your machine to an Apple store and let them look at it, it's the sort of thing that's under warranty.

Is there a small pin hole anywhere on the drive door? If so, stick a paperclip in it and then pull it out with your fingers.

As for starting up into OS X, go to the 'Startup Disk' Control Panel and select the OS X startup folder. Hit the restart button and you should be on your way.

Does this help?

The pin-hole on the front of the CD Drive (after you remove the Front Silver/Grey panel) is the way to go.
