Hi there,

I recently bought some Verbatim disks for my superdrive- supposed to be 2x speed discs, but when I put then in the Superdrive, and try and burn with Toast, (5.2) it says it can only be 1x speed. I have burnt 2x speed before with apple disks using toast, and so I started checking the drive out. I downloaded the demo of "Dragon Burn X" from NTL, and it displays the max/min burn speeds of the drive- it says it can only do 1x speed for dvd-r- with no disk in it- so I'm thinking its not the media. I have upgraded the machine to os 10.2.6, installed the superdrive firmware update (its 1.9), and the machine is dual 800 Quicksilver with the stock superdrive and 250mb zip drive. Anyone know how to get 2x back again??

i'd still guess it's the media. just because dragon burn X says that 1x is the speed, how can you be sure? there's no disk in there. all the cheap media i get, i can only burn 1x in toast. apple and other higher quality media, i can burn at 2x.
