One question. Is refurbished codename for "dead pixels"? I would suspect any LCD screen sold in this way. If I was actually in a store I would definately have them open the box and plug it in.

I have no direct experience, but don't the refurbs from the Apple store come with a 90-day warranty...

I recently purchased a refurb 1 GHz iMac (from PowerMax) - no dead pixels.

I previously purchased a refurb 15" LCD from the Apple Store - also no dead pixels.

I had the same concern as you, but have been very happy with my refurb purchases.
