I am borrowing a friends PowerMac G4 Dual 1ghz. I had a 10gig Quantum HD laying around from my G4 400 that now has bigger drives in it.

I put the drive on CAble Select and put it in the Dual. It powers up and then I here a short "grind" sound. The computer doesn't see the drive anywhere. Diskwarrior 3 doesn't even see it. Whats wrong?!

Then I got mad, and worried, and tried it back on the G4 400 it came from... it didn't work!!!!! AHH! So I put it in an external firewire case and tried it that way...worked perfectly.

What the heck is going on?!

It may be that "Cable select" setting, did you try Master/Slave?
