Hi

I am trying to install OSX.2 on a SL iMac but the computer cannot select the CD as a startup disk (error -2). What do I need to do to get the computer to boot of the CD?

The iMac is running OS9.2.2, has the firmware update, and has 320 MB RAM. As far as I know, ecerything is set up. Do I need to install OS 10.1 first? Where can I get that?

Thanks,

Uisce

Error -2 usually means a bad disk. If you can take it back to where you purchased it and get a swap its probably a good idea. On the other hand, you optical drive might just be getting old and spinning the disk in a wobbly sort of way and isn't able to get proper error correction. Try starting up with the CD in the drive, holding down option and then select the CD icon to startup from.
