I'm new to this forum, hopefully this isnt taboo around here.

Anyway, 2 months ago I purchased a dual 1.25 ghz G4 and a 17" Apple Studio Display monitor. (Incase it may have anything to do with the problem, the g4 came with 256 megs DDR ram, and I added a 512meg Micron DDR chip)

My girlfriend has the exact same configuration (minus the extra RAM) and she has none of the problems I'm about to describe.

Anyway, heres the problem.

The G4 itself is extremely loud while running and especially whenever I restart the computer, the fan becomes so loud during the restart that you'd think someone was running a vacum in the house. I called Apple and gave them my serial number for the power supply exchange program but they told me that according to my serial number, my mac was fine and that I did not qualify... they didnt really seem to care about my problem or offer any reasons for, or solutions to the problem.

Secondly, the Studio Display monitor seems to be faulty as well, the monitor takes whatever is on the screen (most of the time) and burns the image of that into the background of the monitor slightly. I notice this most in photoshop or Illustrator. If I hide the programs I can see the toolsbars faded into the background of the desktop. When I spoke to apple about this, they had me reset the monitor by changing my background to all white for 30 minutes. This did not help.

Anyway, anyone ever experienced any of these problems or have any suggestions on how to fix them or what to do about them.

Sorry about the long post, serious replies are appreciated.

If I were you and the items were still under warranty, I would call them about sending in the PM and LCD for repair under warranty. Or, before you do this, call or visit an Apple Store or retailer to see if the Macs there make the same amount of noise. You could also check to see if their LCDs exhibit the same problems.
