This thread is for those of you lucky enough to have net access and be in front of the live keynote to post news as it goes on. This is semi redundant, but I figure you all will be faster then main news postings, assuming they are working. Also, people posting here can give more detail then live news threads.

Ok people, let's have some news.
Please keep posts short yet descriptive. You are my (and many others, but do they really count?) source for what's going on.

i'm at the woodfield mall apple store. earlier, we were told to stick around after the keynote for some "big annoucements". it seems they may be specific to the store, but we are all looking forward to today's events.

That shipping in August could be bad. I think a lot of people figured at least one model would be available in early July.

I think some of the "mockup" cases we've discussed the past few weeks looked better than that case!

Depends when in August. It's actually less than 6 weeks to August. That's not so long to rack up pre-orders.
They've done far worse before

I guess I don't understand the timing of things.
Why not wait for MW next month and then people only have to wait a few weeks at most for new Macs...but 6-8 weeks is not a good business tactic.

They needed to make this annoucement as early as possible. Had the WWDC gone by without an annoucement the bleeding would have continued, and Microsoft would have sold a few thousand more XP licenses.
Nobody likes to wait, but now there is a real product you can order and wait for not rumorware.
