After moving last week, I re-connected my G3 iMac (AV edition) and I am not able to connect to AOL anymore.
Modem seems to work, connects and then either times out or loses the connection after a while (before final connect).
Called AOL, they don't have suggestions. Had the phone company in, the line is fine. I am able to fax too, but can just not sign on (tried every number possible)... Strangely enough, it worked once after trying to connect for 40 times a few days ago.
Never had any trouble before.
Does anybody have any advice?

I would drop AOL. Used to have it, then moved to Earthlink for dial up, currently using charter for high speed. Charter is okay, but had a bad cable modem so i had to get that replaced. Go with high speed for the iMac, it'll make everything so much faster. If you must dial up, go with Eartlink.

save your aol data folder, but then delete the app, and try a re-install. grab a newer version if possible, and see if there is any change.


id say ditch aol if you can. its totally unnessary (unless ofcourse you like using it), and you can find far cheaper dialup alternatives that dont count on 3rd party sw.
