The Australian Apple Store has not yet updated their pricing for the new models, but have instead placed a "register your interest" form.
http://www.asia.apple.com:81/interest/au/
To give the message that we local residents are absolutely sick of being screwed on the pricing, especially with the vastly improved exchange rate, I suggest the following:
Register your interest to be notified when they will be available, and in the optional contact field, type:
"Parity pricing"
If enough of use do that, hopefully they'll get the message we're not prepared to pay through the nose to get a product that will in any case be delivered much later than the US.
Good idea?

It sure will be interesting to see how the pricing comes out for us Aussies - with the shape of the Aussie Dollar at the moment, I hope it is not too bad?

wtf
Here we go again with the screwed-over thing.
Hmm.. is it that bad.. US$3000 for the high-end; $4500 after exchange rate; $4950 after GST... the Apple Tax is just over $600 this time round. I don't always earn that much in a month:/

Pretzel, where did you get that from? I couldn't see it on Apple's page anywhere
Do you have the edu pricing?

Got them from a post on whirlpool.net.au
the poster stated he got access to the prices but that the EDU prices were unavailable
Maybe the prices aren't set in stone (finger crossed)

Whilst being the last to defend Apple Australia's usually prohibitive pricing structure and anti-competative dealer network be aware fellow-Antipodeans that many of our yankee cousins pay additonal tax on top of the advertised price, tax rates which vary from state to state.
Besides, I want one

that would be awful it's over 4000 for us Canuks with our dollar so strong... although the recent drop of over pricing in the power books made me happy.
