Hi guys. I have a MDD 867 G4 system. With certain CDs I've found that the drive literally squeaks. I recall getting errors when trying to reinstall the OS. My warranty is up in August.

Seriously thinking about taking it into my local apple reseller. Just don't want them to hold onto my machine. I need it for my business...

Anyone else experience this?

Actually my superdrive squeaks also, but I haven't had any hardware problems with my superdrive. Other than a minor annoyance, it's not causing me any problems.

What I am particularly wondering about is what causes the actual squeaking, is it the disk rotation mechanism, the laser assembly, etc.

Could it be that the holes on some cds are smaller than others that is causing this I'm wondering..
