Hi folks,

I'm replacing the dead optical drive in my dual gig quicksilver with the Pioneer 105. Looking at the drive that's in the Mac now it looks like I'll have to take off the plastic facing that's attached to the tray on the new drive or else the tray won't clear the slot in the front of the case when it tries to open. To anyone who's done this sort of upgrade what have you found to be the best way to take the plastic facing off without damaging the tray? Thanks.

There are just tiny clips at the bottom of the tray face actually. While the tray is out/ejected, Just gently pull forward from the bottom and slide up/off.

Good to know. I don't have the new drive in my possession yet so couldn't really examine it. I was looking at the optical drive in my other computer and the facing looked like it was glued on so I thought I'd have an adhesive removal job ahead of me. I think the Pioneer will get here tomorrow so I'm looking forward to having a working optical again. Thanks.
