Haha.

You are nuts.

That's in a higher class then the G5. IT HAS DRIVE BAYS.

Recheck your specs, that has multiple SCSI drives, multiple optical drives which are SCSI, dual 20" LCDs, an 80GB tape drive, etc. It also has more PCI slots.

And it's buildable now.

And it's buildable now.

It's also got 2GB of RAM, A real video card with 128MB of VRAM, a fantastic 5.1 speaker setup, a mouse with (gasp) 5 buttons, FIVE operating systems, and professional level sound.

Bet hey, let's spec out what we can from a similar G5.

• Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5
• 2GB DDR400 SDRAM (PC3200) - 2x1GB
• 250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
• ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
• Apple Cinema Display (20" flat panel)
• Apple Cinema Display (20" flat panel) + Apple DVI to ADC Adapter
• 56k V.92 internal modem
• SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW)
• Apple Keyboard & Apple Mouse - U.S. English
• Mac OS X - U.S. English
• Logitech Z-680 THX 5.1 Speakers & Monster 2-meter Cable

Subtotal $7,214.95

And we are missing:

2 optical drives, both high performance SCSI.
The HD's are HALF the speed of the SCSI one's in the PC
No tape backup
One OS compared to five
Professional sound card
And a floppy drive too.

And it's certainly debatable at this point just who would "wipe" who. Try again kiddo.

You still don't have enough HD space there.
The god box has more, even with them neglecting to mention the space of that Fujitsu drive.

I'm agreeing with scott on this one, no matter how much we disagree with each other ^_^.

the PC kills the G5, and wiht a nice coolermaster or lian li case I'd say it would hurt i n the looks department too

But hey, it doensn't have FW800...so there.

LOL

While I agree the "God Box" is impressive, it still runs Winders.

Aside from a roomier case, what's so much better about this system than a G5?

What's better?

Bigger case that holds everything in one case.

It has 3 SCSI HDs, and 2 or 3 optical drives, all SCSI.
Two of those SCSI drives are 146GB drives, which are about $800 each, and one is a 73GB drive.
It also has a SCSI 40/80 tape drive.
The SCSI controller is dual channel U320.
Also listed are 2 20" LCDs.
It also has some very nice 5.1 speakers, and a keyboard and mouse that aren't pathetic.
It has more PCI expansion.

You can build it right now, unlike the G5, which won't be around for a while. Note that the god box prices are a few weeks old, and by the time the G5 is shipping, there will be better parts.

It doesn't have to run windows, BTW.

I say they are in different classes because the G5 can't hold the stuff. You'd have to buy an external chassis for the drives, and that's not very elegant.

I thought they bought the best PC money could buy

hahaha

Anyway hardware wise the G5 for expandability sucks, however the hardware that is there is top knoch, not overly expencive parts for those who want to expand.. ok slightly overly expencive... if there's a speed difference good luck finding it, and lastly... the G5 runs OS X

AKA Smeagol... who wouldn't want an OS with a name like that!

Three versions, actually. And Linux and FreeBSD.
