If it's "Neo", and it certainly appears so, then perhaps a tri-processor system would be "Trinity" and the quad "Morpheus".

'Cole Slaw' maker, 'Carrot Shredder'. Me thinks 'Cheesegrater' is probably best, though. 'Light Brite' is hilarious also.

I don't think cheesegrater is best simply because of the fact that many people called the MDD G4 'cheesegrater' because of the way that the back of the machine looked.

Best not to use it twice

FYI, "Neo" is the greek word for "New", written in latin characters under the assignment epsilon --> e. Morpheus is the god of sleep in ancient Greece.

And thanks for the info Pierre, but I already knew that...and if the Matrix geeks didn't know that then they probably didn't fully understand the movie.

Frankly the idea of giving my computer a nickname is just stupid anyway. My iMac is Tom Bertram's iMac, my iPod is Tom Bertram's iPod. Maybe it'd like it if cool names were given like space craft or ships.

And Dace, you think you're pretty smart, but I think you suck.

Not Deliverance... It would make people think that they're gona be taking it in the butt if they buy one.

How about "Hermes" or "Mercury"? Or... "Zeus", "Apollo", "Vulcan", "Isis"...

Isis... I like that. Fits well with Osiris.

Deliverance? Absolutely. Apple should also change the startup tone to the sound of banjos. That would be perfect.

It's a horrible knickname... but "Cheese Grater" is the best title.
The mac community is light hearted enough to get the joke, mainstream media would ruin it though.
I think that the name should just be G5 untill the Rev B's come out. Then it should get a new name so you can tell the difference.

Whatever the name is, it needs to be easy to abbv.
B&W, QS, MDD, DA, and now.... CG!

Well if you really are half as intelligent as you try so hard to appear, then perhaps you'd realise just how fitting ‘Neo’ is as a codename for the G5.

To give you a clue, consider how 'neo' contains some connotation of rebirth, and how the G5 does indeed breathe new life into Apple’s product line.

Anyway, isn’t it just so exciting that we’re back to the Pentium-bashing days? It’s been a very long time hasn’t it?

Perceptions, perceptions…

I think it's kind of silly to try and pick a new nickname for the G5. From the minute it was introduced, it would be inevitably be known as the "Cheesgrater." It already is the cheesegrater, fer cryin' out loud! It's been called nothing but that on these boards since the intro.

Just go with it, man. There's nothing you can do about it.

Neo for the next few years will probably always be mentalliy attached to the matrix. Thus it's a stupid nick name! Why not just go with the code name anyway? It's gota have one, I bet we find out by the Rev B, either that or we could just call it G5 Rev A, mine's a iMac Rev D.

The only names that actually FIT are ones that reffer ot the case, because speed based names will be laughed at as soon as we get up to 4Ghz and OS X requires at least a G4 1.25 to run or something.

Cheese Greater
Insanely Greater
and Lite Bright are my pics

By the way my iMac is named Fred, and my digital cam is named Yoshi.
