Well folks, I did it.

I have bought myself a iMac 17" having previously been a devout Power Mac user. And I gotta tell you, I am blown away!

First Power Mac I bought was a G4 400 then it was a G4 800. Great machines but expensive for what they were. I always got them for the upgrade facility and I suppose I did use this a bit, mainly ram and additinal graphic cards.

When the 17" iMac came out I started to consider it as an option and I am now so glad I have taken the final step. I love everything about, the way you can turn the screen, the Superdrive, the small footprint and the games I play still kick ass. I can't believe this machine does not have a huge market share. I can now say I am convert, no more Power Macs for me. Yes the G5 is a hellava machine but it is expensive and far more powerful than I need.

After I got my 19" CRT I decided I'd never go back to a smaller monitor.

After getting my iBook (obviously an exception to the above rule) I decided I'd never go back to a CRT monitor, except for color-sensitive work.

After getting my iMac, I want to declare I will never go back to a non-pivot-arm screen. However, it doesn't look like Apple has plans on applying this amazing design to its desktop screens... hopefully it does eventually, though. That's the one reason that would make me choose an Apple LCD over a much cheaper other brand.

I absolutely LOVE that screen, even months and months after having gotten it.
