Hey there I have a RAID setup (200GB x 2, Sonnet Tempo RAID133 card) in one of my G3's (300 MHz) and want to move it into a different G3 (400 MHz)... can I? What I'm wondering:

- Is it somehow dependant on the 300 MHz G3's boot disk?
- Can I unplug/plug the drives and card, and they still recognize each other when turned on in another machine?

I plan on using Carbon Copy Cloner to copy the 300 MHz G3's OS/boot disk so that it's identical within the 400 MHz G3 (going from the 300 MHz's Rev. 1 SCSI to the 400 MHz's Rev. 2 ATA).

Thanks for any input,
BD

I don't think you should have a problem as long as you don't change the drive positions on the RAID card. Just plug them back were they were. The partition information at least on a software RAID is stored in the partition map, not in the software. I would imagine the Sonnet Tempo would be the same way.

It seems to have worked out well. Just made sure that everything was placed as it was originally, and it came together nicely.
