Hi all.

My 80GB Maxtor piece of crap has finally turned belly up, and I'm in pretty desperate need of a new, large-ish drive. This is a secondary drive I use for the storage of my iTunes library (20 gig or so) and video captures from my Eye TV (another 30-40 gig easy).

Looking around, I'm seeing lots of 100+ gig drives in the $150 range. Can I use these drives in this machine without any trouble? Or will I have to do crazy partitioning?

Ideally, I'd like to just throw a 120gb drive in there and be done with it. Looks like they're about a buck a gig at compusa.

My only other consideration is that I will not ever buy another Maxtor drive. I'd prefer something like a WD or an IBM.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Scott

I used to have a G4 533 Digital Audio with a Western Digital Special Edition 120GB HD.

Not one problem at all.

It seems posible to me to put a 120GB drive in this machine.

I have had good results with IBM drives.

Must be the Maxtor drive you got. I've been using Maxtor drives in my B&W rev.1 machine for years now without a problem. And this is on a machine where it was said you couldn't connect two drives on the IDE bus (but now both my maxtor drives are on an ATA pci card).
