Something weird is happening. The frontpage had a story about G5's shipping (albeit about customers getting the wrong order) and now it's gone.

Yeah, noticed too. People who ordered the 2GHz model apparently got the 1.8 instead. Apple don't want this news to spread probably...

I ordered the 1.6GHz model.. it would be pretty cool if I got the 1.8GHz one instead.

Another possibility is that the reports of people receiving their systems was a total fabrication.

I'd certainly expect someone on this forum to post within minutes of getting a new system. And I'd especially expect that we'd hear about it if they were shipped the wrong unit!

I'd be very surprised if systems that were announced by Apple to be shipping at the end of August started trickling out now, in mid July.

Oh I'd be a happy man if that were the case. I'd have to call in sick for a week just to play with the new toy.

AFAIK shipments will take longer than expected. No (definitely no) shipments before August. Apparently, they have just a few systems in Germany, and these are on show (e. g. LinuxTag for a few hours, etc.) ...
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
