At work one of my machines is a 1 GHz G4. A few weeks ago the SCSI card in it started getting erratic along with the other PCI cards in it, and eventually, after a reboot the AGP slot seems to have gone bad. The symptom is that the video output is heavily tinted magenta. I've swapped in a couple other video cards and put different computers on that monitor to verify that they were not the culprits (they weren't) I zapped the PRAM and ran the included hardware test CD (which didn't find any problems ).

Any ideas what this could be or how to fix it? I've seen this happen to CRT iMacs before, but this is a brand new mac. WTF?

Not to be obtuse, but have you verified that it's not the monitor or the cable?

Why not get an Apple tech out to fix it? If it's a brand new machine, the warranty will cover a new motherboard. I had a tech come out and swap the board on my G4...didn't cost me a cent.

Funnily enough the machine is actually owned by apple, but I was hoping there was something I could do to avoid having a big tech-support thing go down.

So the machine in question is owned by Apple? As in, you work for Apple? I'd think it would be pretty easy to get tech support in that case.

No I work for a third-party hardware developer. We are a beta site for Apple, so they lend us machines so we don't constantly have to buy computers putting a massive dent in our ability to develop good quality gear for their platform. I'd just prefer that when they get this computer back it's not all ****ed up.
