Has anyone here that has upgraded their iMac with the Hamoni G3 600 with Firewire port tried using Apples iChat AV with iSight? What have your results been? Does anyone know if this would work?

GPU has 6MB of ram, which I think would be the only possible problem, that and to a lesser extent the 66Mhz system bus.

Does apple system profiler report the 600mhz?

Does the isight require bus power? I'm not sure if the HARMONi gives enough power out the port.

If the answer is yes to both, then it will work without issue. the bus isn't an issue here.

I haven't upgraded this these iMacs to a Harmoni 600, I am inquiring because I might upgrade two of them for the purpose of using iSight. But the question are good, so if anyone has this upgrade would you mind checking on vmarks points? Thanks.

If the Firewire ports are standard ports I think they should work.

But if you want specifics you'd have to e-mail sonnet and ask?

Thanks, but am not even sure this is a worth while upgrade for the price. My guess is it would work, but, well, these machines are so old now.

there are power injection things you can buy even if the port is NOT powered.

It is a powered port.

I'm out on a limb, but I'll say that it SHOULD work.

The question is, is the price of giving the iMac a new lease on life worth it.

You do know that if you use an external monitor, you can display 1600x1200 at 75hz, right?

Load it up with 512mb ram and it's not a bad machine.
