Does anyone know if Apple will release the bluetooth and airport extreme adapters for the G5 Powermacs as an accessory, or do they need to be installed as a BTO option?

I have not been able to find any technical documentation on what it takes to install the parts.

If you don't order BlueTooth and want to add it later, you have to use an external adapter.

"Bluetooth is available as a build-to-order option, which is installed by Apple at the
time of purchase as a fully integrated module. Accessing the Bluetooth capabilities
without purchasing the integrated module will require a third-party dongle.
When the Bluetooth option is included on the factory order, the Bluetooth antenna
is provided in the accessory kit and must be installed on the Bluetooth antenna port
on the rear of the enclosure."

AE can be installed later by the user in the internal slot.

"The Power Mac G5 computer supports the optional AirPort Extreme Card, an
internal wireless LAN module. The AirPort Extreme Card is available as a
build-to-order option or as a user-installable upgrade through the Apple Store."

From the G5 pdf on the Apple web site.

Yes that is. I guess one should order the BTO module if there is the least bit of interest of perhaps using it in the future.

For me, I'd be interested initially in a BlueTooth keyboard/mouse. My wireless RF keyboard & mouse work fine, but the reliable range is only a couple of feet. It'd be an improvement even to get just 5 feet.
