We have a G4 500 AGP and this morning (after a week of software headaches) it wouldn't power up - my Dad is convinced the power supply is to blame.

My question is, does anyone have any general advice on fixing this/getting a new power supply, or is there anything else we should check?

Thanks

Did you try all the usual tricks?

Press the CUDA button on the mobo?

Dunno how the AGP 500 behaves, but I also had a Power problem (MDD):

That was fixed by resetting the PMU (a simple button press on the motherboard) - not sure what's the layout on yours. However, I knew the power suplpy worked, since the power button glowed when I pressed on it.

Well as there was no voltage out to any of the pins when the power supply was plugged in, my Dad concluded that it was dead.

It's now in the post on the way to a parts/servicing exchange place.

There's a way to use an ordinary ATX power supply but you have to mod it - check xlr8yourmac.com
