Hi All,
I decided that this cd-tray always opening up on start-up isn't a good enough reason to kick it out and buy a G5 just yet. Can anyone tell me what causes this and how I might fix it? This is a legacy from when I booted in OS-9. I did a search in the forums and couldn't find anything.
thanks
Eric

In OS 9? As you startup, or as your desktop appears? If it's as you startup, maybe you're holding the mouse button down. That ejects on startup. If when your desktop appears, maybe you have the eject Apple applications in your startup folder? That's all I can think of.

If you are using 3rd party mouse that maybe the cause.
Some generic USB mouse do send "wrong signal" to the OS in bootup to tell the machine to eject the CD.
For safety, go for Logitech, Kensington, or M$.....they don't suffer this problem

The only time I've experienced that (G4/400) was when my battery was somewhat not working properly, or when I updated the firmware.
