IM really curious to know why know one is asking about why we are not getting a ATI Radeon 9800 with 256MB of Ram as a Retail product for G5's? I wish Apple was offering a 256MB version as a BTO for the G5's...

Probably because they are expensive and pretty much useless from a consumer standpoint.

Even for the PC.

becuase, mac users dont represent a large and profitable enough market to ATI to create more than one type of the same card.

The 256 version really is a useless card... I'm kinda happy they aren't making it for mac. I'm sure it wasn't very profitable at all for ATI anyways.

The only advantage to a 256MB card is the ability to play UT2003 at 1600X1200 wth everything on.

why does ther have to be two verisons in the first place...

It would seem like ATI and any other graphic chip maker would make there products operating system blind for the most part...

I hate trying to find a MAC only card at Frys...
