Our air conditioning went on the blink today, when the repairman came I put my iMac to sleep and went to answer the door.

He shut off all of the circuit breakers without telling me, now my iMac will not power on, when I push the power button it's just dead.

I once had the same problem with my Powermac but was able to reset some kind of battery by opening the Powermac and pushing a particular button.

Is there any way of doing the same with a flat panel iMac?
The strange thing is I had the iMac plugged into an APC UPS backup, which is supposed to stop something like this from happening.

Do I have any recourse before calling Apple?, I did get the AppleCare extended warranty.

I did that, it did work but when I turned off the iMac it wouldn't start again. I tried it a second time and no luck.

I've already set up with Apple to come and repair it.

So, did Apple fix it?

Yes, BUT the tech who fixed it put the base back together wrong, there is a nice "lip" where the two parts of the base meet and the plastic cover on the combo drive looks like it's going to pop off.
I called Apple the next morning, they were very apologetic and said they're sending out someone to fix it along with all of the plastic parts just in case anything has to be replaced.

I highly recommend that anyone buying a Mac purchase the AppleCare warranty.
