To install a second HD in the PowerMac G4, does it matter which model you use?

I'm assuming a 7200 RPM IDE HD would work?

Any IDE drive will work just fine.

Make sure you have the jumpers set to "CS" or 'cable select' otherwise you can have real frustrating issues.

Many hard drives come in "cable select" mode already, but if they don't their will be documentation included with the hard drive (if you buy new) to show you how to do the simple 10-second process.

Other than that, you just pop it in and format it with the disc utility.
