my "new" 533mhz single G4 takes longer to start up than my old B&W G3 the only (other than obvious) difference in configuration is the G4 has 2 HD's the stock 40 gig ibm (7200 rpm) and as a slave, a IBM 12gig (5400rpm) and there really isnt alot on the G4 as far as programs, because i just got her and havent had time to load her up like the G3. but the G4 take ALOT longer to get to the log on screen than the G3. Is disk utility scanning both disks? could that be why?

my Dual 867 used to start up extremely slowly, so i repaired the disk and permissions in disk utilty, and that seemed to help a lot.
