Hello all. My sister has an iMac 333 which I installed an
MCEtech iMac CDRW into. It was worked with out problems in both OS 9 and as of several months ago OS X. She has had to burn at 8X as opposed to the 16X, but she has been very happy with it none the less. As of last night, however, she is can no longer seem to mount a CD much less burn one, this occurs in both Mac OS X and 9. This happened after her friend logged out and logged back in under her own name while my sister was importing a CD using iTunes. I am hoping this was the cause of the problem and the hardware didn't somehow break. I don't think the latter occured for several reasons. Apple System Profiler sees the drive, as does iTunes and Toast 5.2, but none can seem to mount/see an inserted CD. We have tried zapping the pram, restarted several times in both 9 and X, MacJanitor (yep, started grasping at straws), and anything else I could think of. She is running Jaguar 10.2.6, so she is up to date there.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what is going on? I am hoping it is a corrupt file which happened when they switched users while importing. Maybe someone knows what files I should be looking at and what I should be seeing?
Thanks.
