I seem to always get one or two beeps during video capture on my emac . It's really loud and it only happens with the emac , not when I capture the same footage to my ibook . I don't think it's an AC spike , it only appears on one channel but sometimes it's on the left and sometimes on the right. I use the same cable and the same camera for the transfers . Anyone have any ideas ?

What kind of camera do you have?

What kind of cables are you using?

What version of iMovie are you using?

Does it happen with everything you edit?

Do you have another video recorder to play around with and test?

I have a Sony DCR-TRV17 .

I don't know the brand of the firewire cable , but it's an aftermarket and quite chunky, the connectors and cable are finished in a soft clear plastic and it's about 6 feet long . I seem to remember the cable that Apple supplied with the first DV iMac was more slender and flexible .

I'm using iMovie 2.1.2 on OS 9.2.2

It pretty much happens with everything that I do , which is mostly TV stuff recorded to the line in on the camera and then from the dv tape to the eMac . A program will capture to the iBook fine but then beep when the same program on the same tape is captured to eMac . It's only occasional like once every 15 minutes or so .

I wish I had another recorder .
