Anyone had any experience with Mac Warehouse, aka Micro Warehouse?

I am considering buying a system from them and was wondering if anyone had any postive/negative feedback on them.

Thanks!

Are you talking about the UK based firm?

If so, they are not too bad... Although nothing special.

I used to buy lots of things from them, and they were very efficient, but over the last few years they have gone down hill Customer Service wise. I have had real hassle with an iPod fault with them, and also they sent out the wrong version of some software a few times... After the iPod incidents (tm) I avoid them and I shop elsewhere...

People like 'Micro Anvika' are much worse however, though these days I think you take a risk everywhere.

The only place where I have had exceptional service, and also a double warranty as standard (!) is John Lewis... They price match anyone and any package, and also have a brilliant selection of machines and software...

Well worth a look. Oh and did I mention you get a 2 year warranty as standard!!

Peace,

Marc

The Mac Warehouse I am referring to is based in Norwalk Ct. Their warehouse seems to be in Ohio.

I've bought from them several times in the past and have never had a problem.

They are a huge company that includes Micro Warehouse and Datacomm Warehouse.

No problems in the distant past (over 5 years ago) with sales and returns, although their prices tend to be higher than others. Avoid MacMall like the plague. If you really want superior customer service, go with MacConnection...I've been buying from them exclusively for 3+ years.

Right, MacWarehouse and MacConnection are both bigger companies. Personally I try not to buy from them, not b/c they are bad, but because their prices are a bit high compared to others. I use to shop at Outpost.com, but have not shopped with them for quiet awhile, I think b/c I do more shopping around now using pricegrabber and such. I have to disagree with Macola about MacMall, I have found them to be fine and have better prices, although I must admit I have never tried to retrun anything. The other two are ClubMac and MacZones, all three are pretty much the same buyers experience. One thing that bugs me about Mac Warehouse and Connection is that for the size of those companies you would expect a better catalog, it kinda bugs me. Have you seen there PC catalog? A lot of that stuff works on Macs too, but they don't public in the Mac version. But, they are fair.

I have bought more stuff from MacWarehouse over the years than from any other reseller, from Zip disks to an iMac, and have always had great service. The iMac came with about three different MacWarehouse rebates, and rebates always make me nervous, but I had no trouble. I've also always had good luck with MacZone.

ClubMac is the one to watch out for on shipping charges...and ultra pushy when I made a mistake on my online order and had to call in.. the salesperson would was so determined to sell me an extended warranty which I did not need.

I got an MO drive from them a few years ago and had problems right out of the box. The tech support guy there spent like 2 hours on the phone with me with the first drive and the replacmeent until it finally ran good. First time it was a bad drive, second time was a SCSI conflict (this was on a 6100). I haven't ordered from them in awhile but if that level of service is still there, I'd highly recommend them.

FYI, they're owned now by an investor group that was headed by Jerry York I think, an Apple board member. Not sure if he's a Mac user but you'd think it'd be a better company mac wise as a result.
