would a new USB2 external drive work on an old classic crt imac with a standard USB port (at the slower speed of course)?

I have several old imacs with nothing but a usb port to get stuff out of them, onto them... would a large usb2 external drive be an option?

I jus tneed to know if USB2 is backword compatible to usb1.

The Box Or Manual that comes with your mass storage device should yell you whether or not it's usb 1.1 backwards compatible.
