I just got a 15" TiBook 867 on student discount (couldn't wait around for the supposed forthcoming updates) and now I'm left wondering if I really need my Power Mac G4 733 MHz desktop?

I figured I could either sell it for $1,000-1,300, probably max. Maybe sell the display for another $400? I don't know how reasonable these prices are but anyway... those in combination would be nearly enough for me to get a 23" Cinema display to hook up to my PB.

... or I could keep the 17" display and sell the Power Mac and look into getting one of the single proc G5s... but I don't know if I want to put out any more money right now since I just bought the PB.

What would YOU do? Keep what I've got, sell PM+display for a 23", or sell the PM for a G5 and keep the 17"?

You'll probably have folks chime in with practical answers, but since it appears you have the means to upgrade to a G5, I say go for it. You'd have the nice portable and a kickin desktop. Mmm, Mac heaven....

Couldn't agree more. Get a G5 if you need a desktop & can't afford it.

G5 is the way to go. If you ever plan on selling that 17" though, don't hesitate to contact me /

I bet if I'd posted this in the displays forum (or Peripherals, whatever it's called here!), I would've gotten very different responses. Haha!

I'm sooo tempted to get the G5, even if it's the base model. I don't know though, it's going to be more cash... damn.
