Here is my problem. My boss wants a new computer. He currently has a 450 cube and a 15 inch screen. So I ordered him a 1.6 G5 and a 20 inch screen from a grant I have. Heres my problem - I want the G5. I have a 933 G4 that I was thinking of giving him to use with the 20 inch screen. He would still be getting a "newer" faster computer and a bigger screen. Should I do it? Would it be that wrong?

Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

Personally, I would worry less about what is "right" or "wrong." I'd worry more about who would benefit more from the use of the faster computer. And thenworry about the other tangibles in the sense of who paid for it(sounds to me like you did), who wants the bigger screen, etc.
Thats just my opinion though!

Well if he's dumb enough to accept your 933Mhz G4 & be happy that he's getting a new machine, you may be able to use that to your advantage. Even moreso, I'd REALLY try to get my hands on his old Cube, as you could make a killing off of it on eBay!

If you don't give him the G5, then you are first in line for an upgrade when Rev. 2 of the G5's come out. They said 3 GHz in 12 months!

I'd go with giving your boss the G4 for one simple reason: it's a tried and true tested machine. You've used it without troubles and who knows what interesting...idiosyncricies develop in a new motherboard and processor design?
Position the switch as 'taking one for the department' and being the guinea pig. It's all about how you spin it.
