Are we pathetic for being kept waiting like this?

I just had an epiphany. My willingness to be totally at the mercy of Apple with regard to when they ship this G5 is pathetic. Does any other company get away with keeping their customers in the dark like this?

Microsoft has never shipped an OS on time, as far as I know.

They can't exactly start shipping them before they are manufactured, packaged, shipped around the world. Just be patient. I'm sure Apple are trying to get these machines out just as quick as they can.

Who's in the dark? The computer and its details have been announced and posted to Apple.com. Now we are waiting for shipments to arrive. I don't get your complaint.

Hi
Not sure if I understand what you mean. I don't feel in the dark. My dual is to arrive in the next few weeks - sure I'd like to have it now, but in the bigger picture it's not as if my life depends on it!
(and at least I have electricity now so I can keep my G4 running!)
Don't feel too frustrated if your machine hasn't arrived yet. They're still being assembled for goodness sake!
It'll come, it'll come...
When Apple builds it, it will come... ;-)

Hi!
I think other companies don't even announce new machines, do they? There's no point in announcing a new machine with a revolutionary 200MHz increase in cpu speed, if dozens of other companies will also be offering it.

I'm not really waiting in the sense that many of you seem to be. I placed an order for a G5 and then went right back to using my current computer. When it gets here it gets here. No big deal.

Apple said the end of August and it's only non-Apple sources that have cast doubt on that. I guess I was hoping for an "and it's shipping today" at the end of Steve's speech.
This has just given me extra time to sell stuff on Ebay....

My life doesn't depend on it either, but I have vacation until thursday, then I'll have school again. And I'd like to have a dual machine within this week, but I fear that's quite unrealistic
