Long story short:

Don't say buy a new computer, I can't, I'm broke. So the real deal holyfield!

Beige G3(desktop), Multiscan 14 inch(Apple), Sony earbuds.

So I notice dust on the monitor. I go to wipe it off. Half way through my sony earbuds give me a major shock. I could feel the arc in my left ear. I could also feel a major electro build-up on my hand before the head-shot.

Scary ****. Monitor and computer plug into a power strip. Grounding problem?

Static electricity builds up on a crt monitor. I have found that when everything is on and I go to wipe the monitor off I receive a minor shock, partly because I was leaning on my metal desk. If you want to clean the monitor shut it down and wipe it off then (don't wear your ear buds either).

As you found out you created a circuit and received a small charge because your ears are sensative it probably felt bigger then it was.
