Hey guys, my G5 should be here any day now, and I was thinking that I should save up for a month or two to get the 20" LCD. In the meantime, I'd like to use my current 17" monitor with a VGA input only. I see that Apple has a DVI->VGA adapter for about $20 and I'd like to use that. However, I would like to know if it will work right.

Does the video card on the G5 require that the main (or in my case only) monitor be plugged into the ADC port? Or will I not have any problems at all just using the DVI port until I can buy myself the 20" LCD?

The G5 includes a DVI-to-VGA adapter out of the box, so you don't have to spend your $20.

And yes, you can use the DVI port as the main display. Apple might like to push its own line of displays, but they're nice enough to know that not everyone wants to use their displays.
