Me - "Hi, any news on when you'll get the new G5s?"
Apple store - "Uh, no, probably have them before x-mas."

What a crappy response. That is a COMPUSA type reply. Apple should be better.

I would have gone mad with the guy and had words (tm)...

They should be kissing the ground we walk on as prospective G5 buyers.

It's not like he is going to personally see any of your mad G5 cash.

I try to go easy on my fellow wage slaves. They are just trying to get through their day, like the rest of us

I just wrote a very sanctimonious reply mentioning that whilst I agreed with you in principle, he is still paid by Apple to sell stuff, and also be a public face for the company... etc etc

Then I thought, no, you're right.

He may have just had a bad or something. (And man can I understand those recently).

Peace to the guy, and may he have better days in future...

Peace,

Marc

I was at a party a few weeks ago which happened to be attended by a bunch of people who worked at the San Diego Apple Store.

Needless to say, they were sick of people asking when the Powermac G5s would ship, but the question that really drives them crazy is "When are the PowerBook G5's gonna ship?"

Well, two weeks ago, they probably didn't know any more about G5 ship dates than you and me. People who work close to the public (retail, customer support, etc) are always the last to know. So that's why they were tired of talking about it. But by Monday, it's safe to say Apple Store employees knew the G5s were shipping.

The Apple Store folks I met really did enjoy working there, and they do like the enthusiasm that Apple customers have. It's just the constant "When is Apple gonna have XYZ" that gets to them. That, and the people who try to view p0rn on the store computers.

"Are we there yet?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Are we there yet?"
...

You get the point...

Yeah, that's crappy. Getting sick of people not doing their goddam jobs. You're PAID to answer questions like that, so ANSWER them and be damn happy you HAVE a job!

Isn't logic swell? It gives answers without really answering anything!
