I have a summer 2001 500mHz snow iMac that the CRT blinks out after 10 minutes or so, was beeping softly and the power light was blinking in one second intervals. Apple-Oakbrook said it was the Harddrive. I replaced the drive and the CRT still blinks out, but the power light remains lit steadily. I noticed some static-type-arching across the screen a couple times before it went out making me believe it is the analog video board.
I connected an external CRT to the VGA out and the "static-like-arching" was only on the iMac CRT. When the iMac CRT quit, the system froze and the display remained lit on the external monitor--just showing the frozen desktop and no response from the mouse or keyboard.
Can anyone tell me if it is the Analog board or the Logic board? -- money is really tight.
I'd appreciate any recommendations on where to get new parts for it too!
Thanks very much!!!
