Is anyone nice enough to clear a partition and install OS9 on it? It's not a stupid question as it seems, as I was able to do this on a (also Non OS9 supporting) G4 1.42DP.

Anyone who has other questions about the g5 that is not about speed. feel free to post here.

There's a very big difference between installing OS 9 on the G4's that did not support OS 9, and installing it on a G5. First up, the G4's were still using essentially the same motherboard for quite a while, which had just minor updates done to it.

The G5 on the other hand is (at a minimum, there's plenty more):
- A completely new processor
- A completely new motherboard design
- A new type of hard disk
- A new way of connecting most of the system peripherals on the motherboard

In short, OS 9 isn't going to be booting natively on a G5 without someone writing drivers for these things.

Were you also able to get it to boot?

I wouldn't be surprised. However, airport extreme and firewire 800 wouldn't have worked (as there are no drivers for them in OS 9). Everythign else probably would have just fine (I coudl be wrong...)

Now as far as the G5 goes, no way in hell

I dayly use G4 DP's with my OS9trick on it. The essence is typing :
% cd "/volumes/Restore CD/.images"
- _ _ _ _ _ _% open ./os9general.dmg

in the terminal from OSX. You just drag the OS9 contents to it's partition and it will boot from that. It's so simple.
