I just ran Cinebench 2003 single CPU render test - 172 sec. However, I push the eject button in the middle and it took the Finder some time to make the tray come out, so the 170 is not the real time. Maby 150 is about.

AFAIK, you should be a score, which gets higher, the faster the CPU is.

Cinebench 2003 is currently being optimized for the G5.

They expect a current single CPU G5 1.8 to get a single CPU score of about 238, compared to 188 with the old code, a 27% speed increase.

(Note however, that a single P4 3 GHz with HT gets around 350 though.)

A dual 2.0 G5 should perform at about 480, which is in the range of a dual Xeon 2.4C.

What machine is it? Try opening a whole bunch of apps at once say 10-20 - how does the machine handle it?
Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

Go to Adobe.com, download the PS Tryout for OS X, and then DO STUFF.

Unfortunately you're limited by RAM though, so the real testing cant quite be done yet.

Don't forget to download the PS plug in for the G5!

Can you report the OS build number from the "about this Mac" menu (click on Version 10.2.7 text) and the DVD product identification from the "devices and volumes" tab on the "more info..." window.
