Ok, I just wiped an old iMac DV 350's hard drive clean and went to install 10.2, only to be greeted twice with errors during the install (the screen would switch to black with white text saying something like "An unexpected error has occurred. You must restart your computer").

So I figured I'd install OS 9 first and then deal with getting X to work.

However, I can't get the 10.2 CD out of there, since the computer's only method of ejecting CD's is the button on the keyboard, which is disabled in the option-boot screen as well as when the machine is booted from the 10.2 CD.

I COULD use the pin-hole thing, but the CD drive on this computer was busted for years and just recently, inexplicably started working again. I don't want to risk breaking it.

So, is there any way to get that CD outta there so I can install OS 9? Remember, the hard drive is completely blank.

Thanks for any help!
Be happy.

Try holding the mouse button at startup.

That worked! Thanks!
I thought it only applied to floppy drives. Silly me.
Be happy.

No problem. I believe this trick only works with the slot loaders and newer. I've tried it with a Bondi with no luck.
