They are identical to the eMac ones... worse luck.

There are loads of pictures of them at the Apple website on the eMac page.

Why does everyone hate the eMac keyboard? It seems ok to me from when I used it at the store.

Too me, there is just *no* quality at all in it compared to the black 'Pro' item.

The plastic the keys are made of feels cheap cheap cheap! The action of the keys is awful. The angle is all wrong for me, as I like flat keyboards.

Also the USB ports on the back are not as useful for peripherals as they were when they were located on the side. I found I had to loop cables around and it caused all sorts of hassle that never happened with the 'pro' item...

Also, after a few months usage, the white finish looks like ass. I have seen them absolutely filthy in some stores a few only a few weeks... This never happened on the black items.

All in all, they are bloody awful.

I know, I would agree with you, Arkham. I 've used the keyboards at the store and it's the same. Of course, you gotta love anything from the simply apple.

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Go to the "Store" tab at www.apple.com, click eMac, then at the bottom left corner, click "Photo Gallery".

Is this it?

It looks similar, but I think the ports are on the sides.

No silly head, that is a white Pro keyboard.
Just like the ones that came with the iMacs.

Anyway I hate the eMac keyboard, it is CHEAP.
and I cant beleive that its comming with a computer costing 3000$.

Almost makes me want to wait for second revision.

Nope... that is the Pro keyboard in white. This is the new one:

Much more detailed pictures here:

http://homepage.mac.com/jtaylor.mac/PhotoAlbum13.html

It has no height/angle adjustment, and the USB ports are on the rear of the keyboard, next to the keyboards own USB cable.

Yeah I'm not pleased at all with this.

I spend over $4500 CDN on a G5 and a Studio Display monitor (which is just another addition to my continuning purchasing from apple) and we get this ugly cheap keyboard.

I'll be buying another pro keyboard right away.
What a joke. I love my macs to death, but Apple has been pissing me off lately like nobody has ever done before.

Thanks for all the replies, you people are great. I've got one of those keyboards and mice at work, came with a G4 (bought last month), looks like they're standard with all PowerMac's now. Okay, who else is for breaking out the pitchforks & torches and storming Apple?

On a more serious note, dear Apple, I don't care if it looks so incredibly beautiful that anyone gazing upon it instantly worships it, the keyboard and mouse should be comfortable in extended use. Although from Apple, I expect both beauty and functionality.

I almost never use the keyboards that come stock with any computer. They never suit me, and I always assume they won't, so it's not a big deal for me.

I also suspect that this is a stop gap measure because the Bluetooth models aren't ready yet. They cleared out the old Pro boards to make way for the Bluetooth boards, which aren't ready, so they ship the eMac boards instead.

Not the best choice, but what the hell.

The G5 keyboard is one of the worst keyboards I've ever used.

If Apple are planning to ship the bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the G5 why is the bluetooth module optional?

I suspect they're shipping this 'lesser quality' keyboard and mouse in the hope that people will pay extra for the bluetooth module, keyboard and mouse.

I haven't had a computer that I shut down in years. Just sleep it, or better yet, turn on Energy Saver and just leave it on.

There's no reason to be shutting down your G5 at night. My systems generally only get a reboot when there's an OS update that requires it.

I'm so glad that by the time I get around to ordering a G5 there'll probably be a matching keyboard that's not all assy
Be happy.

I wonder why it isn't the pro keyboard in white?

Apple will NEVER bring the power button back. When it was dropped, I wondered why also, and someone posted that their implementation of the power button violated the USB standard so they dropped it.

There are companies that sell keyboards with power buttons and even on that sells a USB power button without the keyboard!
