When they first came out you could get a superdrive with the 15inch iMac... and I actullay prefer the size of the 15 inch to the 17 inch.. but I dont' want to buy one wihtout a superdrive.

do you think when they update the iMacs, they will again let you buy a superdrive?

I'd buy the eMac, but it's too big for my small work space.

most likely not, unless they give a better 15" screen..

The 17" screen is a lot nicer then the 15", much higher pixel density tho.

Check smalldog and some 3rd party mac stores.. like macmall, you should have no trouble getting a refurbished (and maybe even new) superdrive 15"

So buy it and drop in a retail superdrive like the DVR-105 for $160. Sell the combo drive to make up the difference.

You can buy an internal superdrive... how do you install that?
And it will work with iDVD.

Pick up a retail DVR-105 (they work with iDVD, I have one!) and open up the iMac and replace the drive with the one you bought! You can also upgrade the HD (if it's not big enough for you) while you're in there!
