I pulled a couple of HDs out of my Dual 1 GHz MDD when I got my new computer and put them in a firewire enclosure. As I expected, I am unable to boot the new machine using the system on one of the drives. I have a lot of data on both drives, but no space to back it up. I'm wondering if there is a utility or something that will update whatever needs to be updated in the drive to make it bootable on the new machine.

Just for refernece I tried archive and install using the system instll disk that came with the new computer, no dice.

I don't know what your setups are (providing them might be helpful) but, why can't use just use the two firewire drives as 'data' disks. Surely your new mac came with a new hard drive, where a bootable OS and applications can sit.

I need to have more than one bootable volume for what I'm trying to do.
