hi,
I am moving to the US in late Sept, and I am looking for shops in NY where I can get good deals on G4 DP1.42 with maxed out Ram..is online a better choice?
also, should I get the 20" or 23"? i know the 20" is a newer version, and it is supposed to be brighter, but the extra 3" is luring, hmm.
thanks for your help.

A place to visit: Tekserve on 23rd street between 6th and 7th ave. (closer to 6th). http://www.tekserve.com If anyone had them, I would guess they would.
I really don't think you can find 1.42 duals anymore though.
Apple quit making them in anticipation of the G5 perhaps because the G4 1.42 dual is faster than the 1.6 G5 in many applications, and about even with the G5 1.8 single.
Apple perhaps switched to lower clocked 1.25 G4 chips to keep the G5's at an advantage?
But..that is speculation on my part. I don't work for Apple. Can someone chime in on this?

I doubt you'd find them in any brick & mortar stores. However, you *may* can still get one from www.macwarehouse.com or www.smalldog.com . Aside from that, eBay's your only option for actually finding a Dual 1.42Ghz. It's much easier to find and buy the Dual 1.25Ghz machines and the performance between the two isn't *that* staggering. I own the Dual 1.25 and I'm thrilled by it's performance.
Many will say "get the 20", it's brighter...", let me tell you, if you have the money, get the 23"!!! It's BIGGER! Bigger is always better w/ screen size! The only difference between the two is a measly luminance that's slightly higher in the 20", but it certainly doesn't make the 23" bad...I'm stunned by the picture quality on my 23". Of course, if you're on a budget, the 20" is marvelous, it's just not quite as big.

I concur. The 23" is STUNNING beyond belief. I just sat and stared at it last night (just got it yesterday). Damn, *sniff* it's beautiful.
