Well, the Duallie G5 I ordered as soon as possible after the Keynote (Apple put in the order at around 4pm that day) has always been slated to ship On Or Before 9/2. That's today. I ordered it CTO for my office - I work at a K-12 and ordered as an Education Institution. I'll update if they indeed ship is, as they were supposed to ship 'em to us ASAP.

It does suck that Edu. Inst. orders are being bumped up above everyone else, but if it does ship, at least we'll know that they're on the way.

I have my doubts.

Please post when you find out. This should provide valuable insight into whether (and by how much) they'll be bumping ship dates that fall over the rest of the month of September.

FWIW, my CTO dual order still shows a ship date of 9/25.

If it hasn't shipped by around 2pm, then it probably won't...but please post either way.

Hello ...

I'm in pretty much the same boat: Education Institution purchase of a (stock) 2x2.0 G5, ordered the day after the keynote.

I checked my Order Status every hour or so last night expecting the 09/02/2003 date to change. It's still holding, even now well into Tuesday.

We'll see what happens ...

Can't you just imagine this conversation happening in the Boardroom in Cupertino:

"We changed all the 8/29 ship dates on the web site and people lost their minds and we got thousands of angry phone calls. Thousands more machines are supposed to ship next week. What are we going to do on Tuesday?"

"Don't change the web site."

Ahhhhhhhahaha, that's pretty funny.

Unfortunately, it's 1:45PM EST... perhaps it might be true!

hi gang,

hate to be the bearer of bad news but, i ordered right after keynote via adc student purchase program cto dual.

i had an oob of 9/2/03 so i called them 1pm est 10am pct time.

they said the website had not been updated but my machine will definitely not ship today and they didn't give me a time when it would.

i asked him how he new it would not ship today and he said my order had not even been sent to the plant to be assembled. he explained once an order is received it shows as an open status and then the order is sent to the plant to be assembled and once it's assembled apple receives a delivery notice from the plant with a tracking number and then the order status changes to shipped. the lag time from apple receiving the delivery notice from the plant and the order status changing from open to shipped is approximately 2 hours.

however, to reiterate, the order i made online hasn't even been sent to the plant for assembly.

he said the plant is in sacramento and would ship from there when it does ship so no getting caught up in customs for several days like my tibook did.

so it looks like the 9/2 orders will not ship regardless of what the orderstatus states. i hope i'm wrong but just relaying what i have been told via the customer service agent at the adc phone number listed.

a side note, he didn't seem like he new what he was talking about and i had to pester him to get the above info that i did.

as of 1pm est time.

Chung - bummer, but yours was a Student ADC order. I'm trying to see what'll happen with my Educational Institution orders, which are 100% different avenues than the ADC orders. These were the orders Apple was supposed to bump up before everyone else. Though it doesn't look like anything's happening...

Blah. Well, it's 9:10pm EST (6:10 in Cali), and so sign of my Edu. Inst. order shipping. Date remains at 9/2. My rep, who is usually right 90% of the time about new product shipping details, said check back in the mornin'. Oh well...
