Hello Maclovers!
As you, I'am very unpatient to buy a new G5, BUT... It seems that the only good and really powerful deal is the dual 2Ghz. I read some reviews of the 1.6 ghz and 1.8 ghz ans they seem not to be so speedy as I thought...
With an (old) dual G4 (1.25 or 1.42) it seems that you stay in the race!
So what do to ? Wait for other dual G5 or stay with old dual G4 ? Because the dual G5 is really expensive..and not ship :-)

Hi, by all accounts the 1.6 is on a par with a dual G4 1.4 - which is amazing. I think the problems people have had in some stores is that machines are loaded with only 256MB of RAM, so things are sluggish. Any way you look at the G5 range it is better value for money and more powerfull than the old G4 range. I mean - bi-direcctional bus, massive amounts of RAM, fast HDs, etc. etc.

THIS THREAD here should answer your question exactly. It's got numerous Dual G4 owners chiming on how great their machines are escp. considering how cheap they are right now.

I think the G5s are pretty good overall, but if you have a dual G4 I'd stick with it until the prices for the dual G5s come down and you can afford one.
